Climb up Mount FUJI 〜Top of Japan〜

People think he/she want to see Japan from the highest location to take a view of Japan. Climbing up the Mount FUJI is not like climbing up one of the Himarayan mountains. You can take it easy. The mountain is open for normal tourist in July-Aug. Each year the government announces opening period for normal tourist.

Even though it is in summer time, be careful that it is cold at the top especially in the morning and night. You can not stand there with T-shirt, Half pants and flip-flop.

You need to bring your proper clothes and equipment to climb up the mountain.

The trail to the top is in good condition but it is better to wear mountain whose if you have. Depends on the skill/experience to climb up and conjunction of the pass to the top but it will take 4-6 hours to reach to the top from the starting point (2,200-2,400 mtr hight). Please be careful of an attitude disease. If you start to feel a headache, first stop your climbing and stay there to see whether your body can adopt that hight condition. If not, I recommend you to climb down a little bit and see your adaptation.

There are 4 kind of trails to the top.

You can find the information of Mount FUJI trail at the following URL

Most people try to see the sun-rise from the top.

You may need to start climbing up before mid-night from the starting point.

Starting Point; SUBASHIRI Entrance.

Congratulation!!! You reach to the top!

The landmark of the entrance at the top is the Shinto gateway. After you pass the gateway, you can find shops, restaurants and lodging houses. Enjoy your time and relax. You can also make a walk tour to round at the top of the mountain. Do not forget to prepare to make your way down the mountain. It takes 3-4 hours to reach to the starting point. If you start climbing from the early morning at 7-8 clocks, you are reaching to the top around noon. Pay attention on your watch and start climbing down before 2 pm so you can avoid darkness during your return trip.
